When you open the second last door on your advent calendar.

Yes, that happened today. It is the 23rd December. Tomorrow is Christmas Eve. Wait what? Where did the time go? Why is it the night before Christmas Eve already? And why don’t I feel christmasy at all? I mean, this year, I’m so not in the Christmas spirit. That never happened to me before, and I honestly don’t know why I’m not…. Well, anyway, tomorrow is Christmas Eve. In a blog post about a year ago, I told you about how I spent Christmas every year. This year, I thought I’d write a little about why I love Christmas and the whole Christmas time.

The first thing that I love is my advent calendar. I know, I’m 25. Why do I still love to have an advent calendar? For 24 days a year, I get a wonderful chocolate treat every day. Who doesn’t love that? When I was younger, I always loved to wake up to little presents, chocolate treats or candy during Christmas time. But do you know what I love most about my advent calendar? That my mum always made them with so much love and that she still has fun buying my favorite one every year and seeing how much I love it.

The next thing that I love is the smell. The smell of cinnamon and vanilla. The smell of freshly baked Christmas cookies. The smell while you bake those cookies. The smell of a pine tree. And of course the smell of the Christmas tree. I can’t really describe the different aromas of all of them. I just love it. It always makes me feel cozy and comfortable and christmasy.

Where I live, every larger city has its own Christmas market. You can buy different sorts of food there, and Glühwein (and other things). It is basically, wine with special spices. I’m not a huge fan of Glühwein. You are able to get really drunk really fast. Trust me, we all experienced a Glühwein-hangover, and let me tell you it is not pretty. As much as I don’t like to drink it, I love the smell of it while walking over the markets.

Christmas and the whole month leading up to Christmas Eve and Christmas day are filled with traditions. Every family has their own. So does my family. I love that we play board games on Christmas Eve. It is a tradition we’ve had for a couple of years. And we always have so much fun together. During the whole Christmas time, my mum and I always have a little cookie time every day, which I totally enjoy.

I also enjoy walking through town at night in order to watch all the Christmas decorations other people put up. Every town is lit up in different colors. It is always so magical and beautiful. It is even more magical when it is cold and when there is snow. But I have a feeling that I have to say goodbye to cozy walks through the cold and snowy weather and watch Christmas decorations due to global warming and the whole weather is changing. December is not so cold anymore. I also guess I have to say goodbye to the possibility of a white Christmas. I even feel weird sleeping in a cozy and warm Christmas bedclothes with a short pajama on because it is way too warm. Anyway, the warmer weather will not ruin Christmas time for me.

I have many more favorites about this magical time of the year. But those above are my top ones. What are yours?

I’m posting this on December 23, 2015, the day before Christmas Eve. I don’t want to spent time on my computer tomorrow to write a post because I’d rather spent the day with my wonderful family and all of our traditions. But I didn’t want to leave you without a Christmas post from me, so here it is. I wish everyone a wonderful Christmas time, or holiday time (I don’t want to insult and leave out those who don’t celebrate Christmas). Have a wonderful time with your families and loved ones. Enjoy.
